In April 2019, Sophia Mayberry joined the Arizona Department of Education under Superintendent Kathy Hoffman as a project manager. In this role, she serves as a team leader who provides leadership, guidance, and recommendations in managing projects for the office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.Sophia’s experience ranges from executive project management to leadership vision setting and facilitation. She has honed her communications, planning, and research skills under the leadership of communications professionals at statewide community benefit agencies. Most recently she worked as the Project Manager on the Executive Team at the Arizona Department of Education, where she led committees, task forces, advisory councils for the Superintendent of Public Instruction.Sophia is a native of Phoenix. She has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Arizona State University. She volunteers at nonprofits across the valley. Her main passion is birth justice. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, going to the movies and spending time with loved ones.
