Profile bio

About Sophia Aliza Jamal

I'm currently the co-founder and COO of Pinkcollar, a social business and ethical recruitment agency for migrant workers. My work marries my interests of entrepreneurship, poverty reduction, and public policy. It is a culmination of years of exposure to anti-human trafficking, social entrepreneurship and public policy through humbling volunteer experiences, heartbreaking discussions in classrooms, and firsthand interactions in the field. Prior to Pinkcollar, I worked at Khazanah, focusing on enhancing responsible investment practices for its investment portfolio. I consider myself a hopeful realist, and I believe that yes, businesses can be a force for good! I spent my formative years at Duke University, USA and the United World College of Hong Kong. As a young adult, UWC was a place of personal discovery that ingrained a sense of idealism, while Duke helped mature that idealism with exposure to deeper concepts and frameworks on impact and change. Real adult life has been a whole new ball game, grounding me in the importance of plain ol' hard work, patience and humility in trying to do the right thing. In my free time, I am an avid reader and podcast listener on the topics of entrepreneurship, human psychology, and international development. And while my jokes don’t always crack a laugh, I have binge watched virtually all the stand-up comedy on Netflix.

Listed skills include Public Speaking, Microsoft Office, Research, Public Policy, and 10 others.
