As a student at Napier Girls’ High School, I have completed levels 1 and 2 of NCEA and am currently completing NCEA level 3. In year 10, I was offered voluntary job experience in which I chose to work at a low decile Primary School as a teachers aid. This taught me how to interact with children in a friendly, comforting and supportive manner. As a holiday job, I worked in an orchard packing foods which taught me how to be more determined, hard working and gave me skills in hands on work. I currently work as a lifeguard at the Napier Aquatic Centre and have done so for over a year. This has allowed me to get a qualification in life saving and in first aid.I volunteered at the Staples Rodway Challenge packing bags for athletes, helping with refreshments and food, and setting up and cleaning up the event. I thoroughly enjoyed this as I got to interact with new people who shared the same interests as me (sports and competition sports) and was able to help out the people around me.
