Hello there! 👋 My name is Sophie, a Scottish-born, California-raised game maker based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I create games that let the player escape their everyday, explore relationships with interesting characters, and practice kindness for themselves and others. You will find me handling the production and narrative in most of my projects and more recently, a little bit of design work. In all the game development work I do, you can expect me to be organizing all the information, continuously learning by asking questions, and supporting my fellow developers in any way I can.I just completed the International Game Developer Association (IGDA) Foundation's Virtual Exchange and am a volunteer blogger for Women-Led Games. Out of 750+ applicants (their highest amount of applications ever), I was chosen amongst 66 as a grantee for the IGDA Foundations' Virtual Exchange. As a Grantee, I built my skills in production, connected with game developers around the world, and increased my game development knowledge thanks to IGDA's coordinators, the guest speakers, and my mentor Abby Sherlock. As a volunteer for Women-Led Games, I work with Charmaine Duff, founder of the organization, to organize, conduct, document, and post interviews of underrepresented game developers' insights and advice on the industry.My previous experience in video production and retail work in conjunction with my newfound game development knowledge—thanks to Code Coven, IGDA, and my own studies—has prepared me for taking the leap into the professional game development space to support game developers in their journeys to making their ideated dream into a launched reality. ✨
