Discussed with practicing genetic counselors several specialties of genetic counseling such as cancer, prenatal, pediatric, and cardiovascular. Learned different genetic counseling techniques and practiced using them in a mock interview. Conversed with peers about their varying perspectives on genetic counseling and certain methods used.

Worked alongside my mentor Dr. Susan Jenks on a project involving the study and identification of polymorphisms within the dopamine genes of the spotted hyena species (Crocuta crocuta). Analyzed hyena DNA samples searching for variable tandem repeats in the gene sequences of the DRD4 and DBH genes. Gained valuable experience with laboratory protocols and techniques including polymerase chain reaction, agarose preparation, and gel electrophoresis.

Tutored several students for physics I and helped them problem solve through difficult assignments and prepare for upcoming exams.

Assisted with grading assignments and providing extra learning opportunities in both Anatomy & Physiology I Lab and Anatomy & Physiology II Lab.
