While I am finishing off my studies I am working a few shifts at a cafe.

Beach Retreats were looking to hire an undergraduate student for a few weeks during the summer months, to film and photograph areas of Cornwall that they sublet properties in. I fit the criteria and had a successful interview.Over the course of several months I produced many photographs and films which can be viewed on my website and The Beach Retreats social media.

Hilltop Farmshop is a family run tearoom and shop. I was in charge of taking orders, serving and clearing food, making drinks, operating the cash register, counting stock, ordering products, stocking shelves and cleaning the premises. There were even times where I had to go beyond what my job role required and help with preparing food. I was able to put the skills I had acquired from my previous job towards my time working here but while before I had no experience with any form of retail, here I was able to gain that experience.

The Strand Cafe was a local seasonal business open for half the year, that I worked for before I started my course at Truro College. My duties included; prepping enough food for the day, making sandwiches, salads, veggie burgers and soups, serving and clearing food, washing up and cleaning the premises. It was a very popular café particularly during the summer months and I learnt to successfully work under pressure. The number of staff required for the day depended on how busy the café was expected to be, so sometimes I had responsibility of the main kitchen all to myself. I worked well independently and as part of a team. I had a keen eye for spotting things that needed doing and this was a great experience for developing my customer service skills.
