Dreams Come True helps children and young people who have a serious or life-limiting medical condition. We operate with complete integrity and dependability – liaising, coordinating, organising, funding and often accompanying the Dream children – to ensure that each child has an unforgettable experience fulfilling their dream, with long lasting memories to share with families, loved ones and friends.Each dream is unique. Some children want to meet their celebrity hero or favourite Disney character while others want to visit their grandparents abroad, ride a unicorn, swim with dolphins or work on a fashion magazine. Many want help with their everyday lives and Dreams Come True is delighted to provide vital sensory equipment, wheelchairs or specially adapted bicycles as well.I am the Community Fundraising Officer for Dreams Come True. My role at the charity includes supporting and encouraging fundraising within the Community. I will be working with a variety of groups from golf clubs, schools, universities, Scouts/Guides, sports clubs and military groups. I will be able to provide ideas for fundraising or support an existing idea. . • Raising funds and awareness for the charity through fundraising events.• Forecasting event budgets and phasing for the financial year. Ensuring income is coded correctly for accounts.• Developing an organisation plan and risk assessment for each event to be delivered, ascertaining target audience and potential income.• Organising and developing bespoke Charity events.• Leading and managing various events across Hampshire and Isle of Wight including The New Forest Show, Isle of Wight Festival and Boomtown. At Boomtown I managed over 70 volunteers.• Presenting to various groups about the charity and accepting donations.• Briefing volunteers and staff for events and delegating roles and team leaders. • Working with the Communications team to create marketing materials and communication plans for events.• Evaluating the success of each event. Assessing if all avenues are being explored to grow income and increase numbers of participants.

Planning and organising events to raise vital funds for The Rowans Hospice. Setting up brand new events from scratch such as our first running event which raised over £10,000. Organising our Abseil, Skydive, Treks, wear red day, Voices Concert as well as supporting our larger events such as our sponsored bike ride, dance-a-thon and sponsored dog walk.Implementing PR, marketing and advertising the events to gain maximum exposure and increase participant numbers. Working with budgets and expenditure. Researching and evaluating the potential of new events and existing events.To work along side the rest of the fundraising team with event organisation and promotion. To build and grow relationship with Hospice supporters, be it in the community or from corporates. Working comprehensively with our database. Being motivational, persuasive and most importantly fun!
