Reporting to the Marketing and the Business Development managers, I help to build and maintain relationships with key clients, monitor new clients, develop intelligence on potential clients and monitor the number and value of jobs we receive. Alongside this I use the Glenigan planning site to identify new projects and clients and ascertain potential leads to pursue and then act on these leads. Part of my role includes writing and uploading news articles to the company’s website and social media feeds. These news items include UK construction related articles as well as company news and updates on larger projects. I compile a weekly construction Heath & Safety bulletin to be sent out to subscribers and attend construction related external events when required. I have still maintained part of my previous administrative role that I moved on from as I answer the phones and reply to customer queries over email.

I was in charge of the administrative work for a number of surveyors across two offices in London, working alongside a small administrative team and liaising closely with surveyors and managers. The role also included answering phones and dealing with customer queries for all offices whilst providing an excellent level of customer services. I used our database to process new initial notices, issue final certificates, process letters to clients and architects regarding build-over agreements and fire brigade consultations, upload and log drawings and structural calculations, ensure all applications were up to date, and liaising with Local Authorities across London, Surrey, Berkshire, Middlesex and Hampshire in regards to Building Control applications.

My main roles include working on tills providing great customer service and building and maintaining relationships with our customers. Other roles include preparing and cooking the hot food in-store - this means being organised and keeping an eye on all stock levels to ensure all products are available for customers. This requires extreme organisation during busy periods such as lunch times to ensure all stock is kept replenished. As a member of staff it is my responsibility to be a face of Pret A Manger to promote the culture and values of the company and provide the levels of service which customers loyal to the brand expect.

Providing customer service whilst on tills or whilst on the shop floor answering questions, investigating stock queries for customers etc. Managing the Fresh Foods department at weekends,being responsible for between 4 to 8 people, organising what jobs needed to be done, delegating them out and overseeing them whilst working on the shop floor myself. Whilst ensuring all jobs were completed within a certain time-frame. I was also in charge of reporting to store managers about how my was doing.

I completed an internship with the charity StudentVoice UK as a Communications intern from July - October 2012. My role within the charity during this time I helped to develop and co-ordinate a marketing scheme to increase the membership of the charity, wrote publicity material and used social media for promotion and engagement. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the charity and it reaffirmed that working in communications and marketing was a career path I wished to pursue.
