As a work study recipient at CSU, I assist members of the Ruegg lab by bridging the gap between samples collected in the field and genomic research conducted with feathers. I organize feather sample shipments from Bird Genoscape Project contributors, then reformat and enter data on new samples using Microsoft Excel.

During the summer of 2023, I began my research project studying Gray-crowned Rosy Finch feathers. Specifically, I imaged and measured the feathers using an Olympus Microscope and ImageJ. I Recorded and organized feather microstructure data in Microsoft Excel and analyzed data using a one-tailed independent t-test or Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test through RStudio.
