Assisted with renovating a house in Victoria. The homeowners wanted to update the 1954 house to green renovation standards and I assisted with several projects guided by this principle. The goal was to maintain the original look and feel of the tudor style house while bringing it up to current green standards. I analyzed the energuide pre-renovation report and consulted on the updates. The post renovation energuide assessment moved the house from a bad report with little to no environmental support up to the standards of a new home built in 2023. I was also tasked with the removal of a significant invasive plant problem, on a portion of the lot where several old growth and Arbutus trees were located, with the intention of keeping it as natural as possible while still allowing for active use and harmony with the wildlife living on the property. Other general renovation tasks I was resonsible for included framing, insulating, drywalling, mudding, painting, installing doors and cabinetry as well as maintaining the gutters, driveway and cleaning walkways and decks using leaf blowers and pressure washers.

Worked as the lead Animal Care Technician at Puppy Love Pet Care Centre. Responsibilities included animal care management such as feeding and exercising the animals on the property (which included dogs, sometimes police dogs needing certain care requirements, cats, guinea pigs, other small rodents, etc.), answering calls and emails, booking appointments, making reservations, taking payments from both boarding and grooming clients and helping to bathe, blow and dry dogs in the groom shop when needed.

Delivered interpretive marine education to school groups and other beach visitors, interacted with local recreational fishers and worked with Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society alongside BC Nature as well as Fisheries and Oceans Canada to collect and share important recreational use data on beaches around Boundary Bay and the White Rock and Blackie Spit piers.Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society is a provincially registered, non-profit society working as environmental stewards in conservation, citizen science, education and restoration in Boundary Bay and the Fraser River Delta.

The aquarist department internship provided me with hands-on experience in marine animal husbandry, as well as in the basic maintenance and design of life support systems. Responsibilities included, but were not limited to, food preparation and feeding the marine life (which included a giant Pacific octopus, jellyfish, abalone and a few 7ft long wolf eels), water quality monitoring and routine water changes, exhibit maintenance and cleaning, life support system maintenance, collection/transport of animals and record keeping.The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is Canada's not-for-profit aquarium and learning centre that aims to connect the public with the Salish Sea Bioregion and its ecosystems through engagement, knowledge and awareness.
