For clinical placement, I went to ACL located in the Mildura Base Hospital. Through this I feel like I gained an immeasurable amount of experience into a possible career pathway.Tasks I was able to be a part of included specimen reception, data entry through the Ultra software, some haematology, manual blood film making/viewing through patient films and RCPA QAP's, exposure to biochemistry analysis and reporting, transfusion requirements and investigation, some microbiology, phlebotomy, day-to-day liaison with medical and healthcare staff and so much more.

Initially I started at Officeworks in March 2012 at the Mildura store, in which I moved to the Keswick store in Adelaide March 2014 (for University) and then the Prospect store in Adelaide June 2015 (less travel). Through the 5 years at Officeworks, duties included working night-fill, working on the checkouts, helping customers on the floor with product queries and stock, and my last two years were in Print & Copy. Due to the plethora of exposure I gained a lot of skills in customer service, problem resolution, machine troubleshooting, stock ordering and replenishment, product knowledge, computer software, money handling, merchandising and development of personal traits associated with the position.

Through University I was lucky enough to be picked to do a Summer Vacation Research Scholarship, I did a second period from November 2016 - February 2017. With the Experimental Therapeutics Laboratory I was able to help out in the laboratory doing some cell passaging, plasmid construction and amplification, protein production/purification/quantification, and I was even able to learn how to handle and about the general upkeep of mice for the various procedures used in their Research.

Through here was my first experience at retail; I learnt customer service, money management and quick thinking, problem solving, limited merchandising, putting value to donations, and responsibility.

In Year 10, I did two weeks here for work experience. I was exposed to laboratory OH&S, and the testing associated with the wines. A few things I was able to watch and participate in was turbidity, pH testing, viscosity, yeast preparation and calculation and sulphur content.
