Junior Irrigation Engineer: As a team member, my career are categorized into two phasestudies and mentioned below:a) Feasibility Study As an Irrigation Engineer I engaged in large scale irrigation and Dam design projectsnamely; Jemma, Megech and Gilgel Abay irrigation projects, my responsibilities aresummarized here under: 8 Assessing the required metrological, soil and hydrological data.8 Developing a topographical map of the given area on appropriate scale by usingsurveying data and small-scale top map sheet.8 Developing Land suitability map based on the soil and agronomical data.8 Design preliminary layout of the irrigation canal, road and drainage network.8 Hydraulic and structural design of irrigation and drainage canals.8 Drawings and report preparation.8 Preparation of specification, Bill of quantity and cost estimation.b) Detail designAs an Irrigation Engineer I engaged in two irrigation and Dam Large scale projectsnamely; Tana and Welmel irrigation projects, my responsibilities are summarized hereunder: 8 Detail designs the layout of the irrigation canal, road and drainage network.8 Hydraulic and structural design of irrigation and drainage canals and pipes.8 Preparation of detail drawing of the irrigation canals and structures.8 Preparation of specification, bill of quantity and cost estimation.8 Preparation of construction manuals, construction schedule, and preparing guideline ofoperation and maintenance works.8 Maintaining and evaluating of large and small scale irrigation projects.8 Organizing and participating on technical capacity building program.8 Formulation of different projects which are related to irrigation.
