Sora Friedman is Professor of International & Global Education and Chair of the Master’s Degree in International Education (hybrid) at SIT Graduate Institute. Over her 40-year career teaching, planning, and delivering international education and training programs, Sora has paid special attention to mentoring new professionals in the field and to the design and delivery of high-quality education, training, and exchange programs.Sora is a regular columnist with GlobalEd, writing "Practicing International Education" on a bimonthly basis. Current research interests include women's leadership in international and higher education. In 2024, Sora was awarded the NAFSA International Education Award for Leadership and Collaboration. She is co-author "Careers in International Education: A Guide for New Professionals," a book on careers in international education, and published "How high the ceiling: Gender and leadership in international higher education," a chapter in "The Wiley Handbook of Gender Equity in Higher Education," among others. She is also a member of NAFSA's Trainer Corps and frequently sought as a trainer and presenter.Previously, Sora served in the Chair-stream of NAFSA's Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLS) Knowledge Community; Region XI (New England) leadership team; as Acting Dean of the SIT Graduate Institute-Vermont campus; as the first Chair of NAFSA's Trainer Corps; as Chair of NAFSA’s Training Coordination Subcommittee; and as a lead trainer in NAFSA’s Academy for International Education for new professionals in the field.Specialties:-women's leadership-career counseling and professional development-international education and training-adult education-training-distance education-immigration policy-public policy/advocacy
