Hi, I’m Sorcha, and I love orcas 🐳 (& rhyming – ha!)Over the past 20 years I have been working in the areas of community development, peacebuilding and transitional justice by:✓ Going back to my roots and working on the conflict that has affected my family for generations in Ireland and Northern Ireland, including co-founding a consultancy to deliver community-based peacebuilding initiatives✓ Completing a PhD that explored First Nations solidarity movements in Australia and Canada and gaining real insight into understanding my privilege as a white woman living in a settler colonial context, as well as the challenges and opportunities for developing treaty and truth processes in these places✓ Working in Aotearoa/New Zealand as an advisor within the Ministry of Social Development and supporting Maori-led initiatives, as well as connecting with treaty educators to gain insight into the complexities of Te Tiriti o Waitangi / the Treaty of WaitangiI am currently working in the Eastern New South Wales Engagement Team at the National Indigenous Australians Agency.If you are involved in solidarity/reconciliation/decolonisation work, or trauma-informed restorative healing practices I would love to hear from you!
