The project builds national capacity for MRV, collection of Activity Data using SEPAL and Collect Earth Online and Emission Factors from field inventory. Technical supervision of the Finnish Funded Programme for Support to Sustainable Forest Management in a Changing Climate (FAO-FIN) in Tanzania (6.9 Million USD over 5 years). Supervision of 5-20 staff, depending on phase of the project. FAO-FIN had 3 main components: • National Forest Resources Monitoring and Assessment (NAFORMA). Concept & methodology development, design, implementation, analysis and reporting. With 30,000+ sample plots 3500 households and 1100 Key informants across Tanzania NAFORMA was a complex project that produced a wealth of biophysical and socioeconomic information on forests and their uses as, biodiversity, organic carbon in biomass & soils as well as land cover- land use change dynamics. • Review and revision of the National Forest Programme of Tanzania (NFP). NAFORMA results were used as evidence base for a proposal for revision of the NFP. • Building national capacity for integrated wildfire management focusing on baseline information, community based fire management, communication and awareness raising and fire policy.
