For the better part of my young life, I viewed my compassion and interest in helping the less fortunate and our planet as a personal philosophy, not recognizing the potential as a livelihood. I was also intrigued by the complex and abstract world of design and architecture, which offered me a clear career path. I pursued a BA in architecture at Syracuse University. However, I soon found myself more excited by my elective classes in political science and philosophy than in my design courses. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I transferred into the College of Arts and Sciences and began immersing myself in stimulating and sometimes provocative discussions of current events, history, and government as well some of the more abstruse topics of determinism and the existence of god. Upon graduation, and an unsuccessful search for work at policy organizations, I tried other avenues and secured a position at an architecture firm in New York City. This role fed my creative impulses and offered me the opportunity to work on many challenging and interesting projects in countries throughout the world. After several years in design, I realized my passions still lie in the more hands-on and tangible impact a career in public service offers. Confident and energized by this realization, I interned at a non-profit working with children around the world and the White House Council on Environmental Quality (both issues important to me). After my White House Internship, I completed my Master’s in Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Upon graduating, I moved to Baltimore to begin work as a Budget Analyst in the State’s Department of Budget and Management. As an analyst, I evaluated funding requests and prioritized vital projects and programs in order to make well-justified and organized budget and policy recommendations to the Governor. I am now in my 7th year at Save the Children and lead their Financial Planning and Analysis department, helping steward over $1 billion in valuable donor dollars toward the most efficient and effective programming for vulnerable children and families in the most difficult to reach and hardest hit places on earth.I’m a father of two wonderful boys, and currently reside on Connecticut with my family.
