Representing Børns Vilkår.Comprising representatives from industry (including via trade associations), academia and civil society, I was appointed member as one of 21 across the EU. On behalf of the Commission, DG Connect will chair the Special Group and ensure secretarial services via the Better Internet for Kids+ Platform contractor. The Group's collaborative efforts are expected to create a balanced and comprehensive framework that encourages responsible behaviour from all parties involved with children in the digital sphere.With the ever-expanding reach and influence of online services, ensuring the well-being and safety of young users is a priority, and the timing for crafting the Code is very opportune. The Digital Services Act (DSA) implementation is starting, after the Regulation entered into force in November 2022. The first 17 very large online platforms (“VLOPs”) and 2 very large search engines (“VLOSEs”) were designated at the end of April. Following their designation, the companies have four months to comply with the full set of new obligations under the DSA. The DSA makes significant changes to the digital landscape, and among many new obligations, all online platforms accessible to minors must ensure a high level of privacy, safety and security for minors on their service. It also introduces stricter penalties for non-compliance and empowers authorities – at European and at national level - to take action against systemic risks posed by digital services.The Code's primary focus will be to build upon and support the implementation of the DSA, specifically emphasizing provisions dedicated to safeguarding minors.

As a participant of Eurochild's Tech Task Force while employed at Børns Vilkår, I actively contribute to the dissemination of knowledge across Europe and engage in advocacy efforts within the EU regarding child-centered technology policy. My contribution lies in navigating EU regulations and understanding the intersection between children's rights and technology. Eurochild, has over 200 members within and around the EU, and serves as a prominent advocate for children's rights in both digital and physical realms.

In particular, it focusses on efforts to address issues such as "grooming" of children and the proliferation of abusive "deep-fake" images.The network aims to foster a cohesive approach to tackling digital threats by leveraging the collective expertise and resources of both governmental and non-governmental sectors. By emphasizing proactive measures and strategic partnerships, the aim is to effectively mitigate the risks associated with online exploitation.Key Areas of Focus:- Establishing robust communication channels between authorities and civil society organizations to facilitate information sharing and coordinated responses.- Developing targeted interventions and awareness campaigns to combat "grooming" behaviors and protect vulnerable individuals, particularly children.- Implementing innovative technological solutions and policies to counter the spread of deceptive "deep-fake" content and safeguard digital integrity.

Member of the government's expert group on the recognition of parenthood in commercial surrogacy agreements on behalf of Børns Vilkår.The expert group was tasked with establishing possible models for how and to what extent parenthood could be recognized in commercial surrogacy agreements, granting intended parents the right to become legal parents, including to become fathers in same sex couples, while ensuring the protection of women's rights and children's rights.The government did not chose to follow our recommendations, which primary focus was protecting children's and the birth mothers rights.

One of 10 members in the working group in Denmark focused on the legal aspects of digital offenses, particularly concerning the Criminal Code's regulations on sexual offences towrds children. The primary objective was to assess the adequacy of existing laws in addressing digital offences, considering the rapid advancements in technology. Responsibilities included representing children's voices from the national child helpline, research, analyzing current regulations related to sexual offenses, and providing recommendations for potential amendments to Chapter 24 of the Criminal Code of Denmark or other relevant statutes.The report and recommendations drafted by the working group were acknowledged, accepted and came into law with a large majority across the political ideologies and parties in parliament.
