Experienced, energetic biomedical researcher in cardiovascular physiology and medical device interaction. I have worked for more than 20 years in the fast paced Visible Heart Laboratory at the University of Minnesota developing and performing cardiovascular (CV) physiology studies. My extensive background in automotive mechanics and experiences within machine shops were instrumental in our laboratory's development of the in vitro large mammalian heart model (The Visible Heart) and the development of our extensive collaboration with Medtronic. Initially tasked with developing and performing CV studies in an in vitro rodent heart model, I eventually went on to develop an apparatus and in vitro protocols for the large mammalian "Visible Heart." More recently I have expanded my studies to include other in vitro tissue models. For over 10 years I have utilized an in vitro tissue bath system to study physiological effects and drug interactions with multiple tissue types including skeletal muscle, bladder, vascular rings, ilium, and esophagus. I bring with me vast life experiences that allow me to design, build, implement, study and interpret.
