About Sounak Chakravarty
I am a Free-Lance Filmmaker & Editor from India. I have worked with Native Voice Films since 2008. I Co-Directed & Co-Edited the acclaimed feature doc The Bengali Detective which won a British Grierson Award. I have also Directed the PSBT/Doordarshan produced Documentary ANNASHREE. I have also Directed and Produced an Educational/Research film for DNDi. I graduated in Film Editing from the prestigious, Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute, India, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India. Before coming to films I did my Masters in Computer Engineering, with published paper in IEEE, Computer Society. I edited NEEV (The Foundation), the award-winning documentary at Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. I have worked as a Script consultant for RSA & Scott Free, USA, along with FOX Searchlight and also for Mirabai Films, Mumbai. My video installation work was displayed at India Art Fair. I have written 16 Scripts for DHAROHAR, the FM RADIO SHOW on 92.7 BIG FM, narrated by Ashutosh Rana. I was the Assistant Director and Producer for the Native Voice Film's film, The Auction House. At present I am Co-Producing & Editing Native Voice Films upcoming fiction drama The Indian Job.
