After successfully implementing over 200 rich media based eLearning projects, for clients around the world, i went into corporate-hibernation from 2003 to facilitate my tapasya to figure out what really mattered.My search for life's meaning and purpose, has slowly taken the shape of an unwavering mission to transform the education system so that it can be a true vehicle for the growth and development of humanity. A Human Resource Development system designed for the industrial-age will not be able to prepare us for the information-age and beyond... An education system that qualifies more and more people to grab resources and monopolize wealth, cannot be an answer to the problems that stare at us in this era of globalization... An education system that stifles creativity and replaces it with a rat-race for degrees will not allow the human potential to blossom......What we need is an Human Potential Manifestation system that is meaningful, relevant, holistic, balanced and inclusive... An education system with no restrictions on access... A Learning Framework whose quality does not diminish with scale... An Education System where learning is a life-long adventure… Where the obsession for multi-dimensional growth is the ultimate sign of graduation… That, my friend, is the education system that i want you to help us build. This edu-campus, focussed on providing life-skills, life-style and livelihood education to young as well as adult learners is set in the midst of a 'Nursery' that has been created by transforming several acres of land reclaimed from a garbage dump in the heart of the Green City of Newtown in Kolkata. It offers a variety of structured and quasi-structured programs under the four departments: Health & Lifestyle, Curriculum Support, Performing Arts and Vocational Training. The campus itself extends beyond the village via a click & mortar KarmYog Omnivarsity, which includes physical spaces such as OmniDEL Greens, Gunakul, the KarmYog Ashram and specialised Learning Junctions spread across different geographies. Mega-Junctions, Micro-Junctions, Junctions on Wheels, roaming Tabmasters... All equipped with the most relevant hardware and software to facilitate effective learning at low cost form the essential backbone for the KarmYog Omnivarsity.i conceived the KarmYog Omnivarsity with the intention to correct the defects in the existing systems of education and provide viable alternative systems that will liberate the human spirit from the tyrannical nature of the current educational system.Me, my wife and our own children are the first students (Gunagrahis) of the Omnivaristy. They are growing up in the Gunakul along with a bunch of other children. Our son, Piku, was the first graduate out of this education system and has got himself admitted into IIT Kharagpur, an institutional destination that he wanted to be in.
