About Jorge Sousa

I am a researcher at VITO (Flemish Institute for Technological research), where I work on urban air quality and wind, data assimilation, air quality mapping and forecasting with machine learning tools. Before returning to Europe I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Wind Engineering lab at Stanford University, CA. I worked on the experimental and numerical analysis of urban wind flows, natural ventilation systems and data assimilation techniques. Before moving to California, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University, IN where I worked on innovative thermal cycles and turbine design. I specialized in fluid dynamics at the von Karman Institute for Fluid DynamicsMy research addresses diverse fluid mechanics problems. I strive to explore my knowledge in fluid dynamics and data analysis to enable sustainability and improve urban air quality.
