My work at Wayron, Inc. included qualifying steel detailing and engineering subcontractors, procuring detailing and engineering subcontractors, managing contracts, processing bid requests, reviewing estimates, project management, steel detailing, network administration, programming, and training.I designed, installed, and administrated a Windows NT 4.0 LAN incorporating accounting, sales, engineering, and shop departments. Installed and administrated the American Contractor Accounting System, Fabtrol Production Control System, Microsoft Office Pro, AutoCAD R14, Tank & Pressure Vessel Design System, and several LAN related services. Designed custom Access Databases for drawing control and customized Fabtrol reports. Developed custom AutoCAD applications for shop drawing & template preparation. Implemented a Quality Control program for engineering department and shops.Major Projects: Weyerhaeuser Modernization Project, James River - Cogeneration Plant, BHP Steel Mill, Umatilla Chemical Weapons Demiliterazation Project.

Operated a steel detailing business from a home office. Developed and applied custom software for steel detailing. Provided computer consulting and networking services to some of my clients. All steel detailing was performed on a AutoCAD Ver. 10 workstation. Major Projects: OHSU School of Nursing, Clackamas County Corrections, Marilyn Moyer Meditation Chapel.

Performed project management, steel detailing, and checking services. Installed and administrated a Novell network with 8 workstations. Maintained the Timberline Accounting System. Installed and operated an AutoCAD Ver. 10 Workstation. As the administrator of a Novell network my responsibilities were to teach users how to use the network, User menu development and management, Creating and removing users, Controlling personnel access rights, File maintenance, Network and workstation backup, Software installations and upgrades, Printer configurations, and Occasional work station relocation or upgrades. Many of the projects I detailed were design build contracts. A typical example would be the stair systems in a high-rise office building where an architect has given the basic configuration of the stairs and landings but has not provided design details for the stair system or how it is to be supported. In a case like this I would be responsible for generating the design in the form of complete erection and shop drawings. These drawings would then be given to a consulting engineer to prepare formal design calculations. I was responsible for meeting the requirements of the Uniform Building Codes and the needs of the shop, the contractor, and the erector. Occasionally on remodel projects and concrete construction projects I went to the job site for measuring or sketching existing conditions and to investigate any possible problems with installation. I also solved problems in the field and suggested cost effective solutions. I helped estimators understand complex design details. I created alternate design details that were cheaper or easier to build to keep a project within a contractors budget. I used a program called "SDS/2" (Steel Detailing System II) on a Hewlet Packard Series 200 computer and AutoCAD Ver. 2.5 to prepare shop fabrication drawings and erection drawings for structural steel buildings. Prepared projects for efficient data entry and created all the standard parts that were applied to the details. Responsible for detailing the difficult areas of the buildings and checking drawings. Designed spreadsheet programs for business management.Major Projects: Concourse D at PDX Airport, Federal Way Hospital, Federal Washington.

Developed an AutoCAD system for designing and detailing commercial structures using open web bar joist design. Created libraries of all sections and standard details commonly used on erection drawings as well as libraries of all structural shapes, standard drafting symbols & weld symbols used for structural steel detailing. The libraries were integrated into AutoCAD's menu system. Provided a drafting service for an architect in our building using AutoCAD to draw floor plans for class "A" commercial building proposals.Major Projects: Mentor Graphics Building, Beaverton, Oregon.

Managed the checking department in an office of 25 detailers. My duties included preparation and checking of erection and shop drawings for all types of structural steel. Teaching junior detailers all aspects of steel detailing from drawing layout and proper detailing practices to interpretation of design drawings and connection design. Wrote programs on a HP-41 calculator to facilitate the detailing and checking process. Types of construction experience included: high rise buildings, heavy industrial structures, material handling systems, plate work (chutes, ducts, bins and hoppers), platform systems including frames, grating, stairs, handrails and ladders, power plants, port facilities, highway bridges, and commercial construction.Major Projects: Sanoma County California Geothermal Power Plant, Intermountain Power Scrubber Building.
