I parachuted into uncertainty to help AWFH stabilize its foundation and navigate a path towards the future and growth. This type of challenge is unusual and not for the faint of heart. I did it to make an impact where I believed I had the skills from my decades as an entrepreneur. I could fully get behind the mission of DEI and helping advance equity for underserved women, Asians and others. At the same time I worked on strengthening the trifecta of employees, company and customers/partners, I recruited new staff and sought a strong permanent Executive Director. Once I found her, I transitioned to a collaborative leadership role where I can continue to help the organization be strong and stable and grow. Asian Women for Health provides advocacy, education and support to promote greater health equity for Asian women and other underrepresented people. We connect women on important health issues and giving voice to their personal journeys to become inspiring agents of change. In one major initiative, Asian Women for Health is providing a Workforce Development Job Training Program to promote more Asian and minority Community Health Workers (CHWs). The initiative aims to not only remove barriers to healthcare services by diversifying the industry but also to promote employment and advocate for policy improvements related to workforce development programs and hiring practices.

Artificial Intelligence Startup focused on profiling people and jobs, then matching them up. Best matches result in recommendations to both sides. Gaps result in learning recommendations for job-seekers to become better matches and similar recommendations for hiring companies.Starting at Startup Weekend, we began exploring how to solve the problem of re-employing workers who are displaced due to automation, outsourcing and company closings. Won 3rd Place and the Social Impact Award. The next step was an MIT IAP challenge, where we received 2nd Place. Finally, we were chosen as a MassChallenge semi-finalist. Lack of funding has put the project on hold.The solution is multifaceted: 1) Create better profiles of both worker and job opportunities that are more 3-dimensional. Use AI + voice to simplify this process.2) Use AI to find near matches and then present workers with skills gaps and training options to fill the gaps. Options could include online learning, in-person education and, yes, even books. Enhanced training could include augmented reality in the future.3) Once reskilled, workers cycle back into the AI process to be matched and presented to open "3D" jobs.
