About Souwelimatou Amadou Amani, Phd.

I am an Associate Program Officer for Crohn's Disease at The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, where I work with institutions to advance research and improve care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). With over five years of experience in translational medicine, immunology, and microbiology, I have a strong background in developing and leading preclinical pharmacology strategies for drug development targeting infectious and immune-mediated diseases. In addition to my scientific and program management skills, I am passionate about empowering women in health and STEM fields through education , mentorship and community projects. I am the Chair of the Board of Directors for Girls Engaged in Medicine and Science (GEMS), a non-profit organization that I co-founded to inspire and mentor girls in Niger. I am also a multilingual individual, fluent in seven languages, including French, English, and Spanish. I get very excited about biomedical scientific discoveries and public health policies. I also enjoy exploring new cultures, connecting with diverse communities, and fostering positive change wherever I am.
