The Dominican Society of Artificial Intelligence (SODIA) is a non-profit scientific institution dedicated to the study, research and dissemination of artificial intelligence as a scientific-technological discipline that studies naturally intelligent entities to create devices, machines and systems capable of displaying an intelligent behavior. It was founded in January 2014 by a group of professors, students and collaborators, under the direction of Dr. Rina Familia in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Appointed as CTO of the Ministry of Health of Dominican Republic during the sanitary emergency caused by COVID-19 to design, coordinate and implement strategies based on exponential technologies to withstand the health crisis caused in the Caribbean country. As result we delivered:Aurora Platform - Provision of an automated system that combines artificial intelligence with telemedicine to provide remote medical assistance in a timely manner through text, voice and video to identify possible cases of COVID-19, in addition to managing communication strategies to keep the population informed through social networks.Center for Public Health Intelligence - In record time, we developed and delivered the technological platform of the Center for Public Health Intelligence or CISP, which constitutes the digital repository and physical space of 5 floors where all the data produced by the different health programs is collected, processed and analyzed in real time, in order to generate timely information for decision-making using technologies such as data science and artificial intelligence. Digitization of the National Laboratory - Dynamization of the National Laboratory Dr. Defilló through the digitization of all processes through the design and implementation of an automated system that allows the reporting, monitoring and auditing of the results of COVID-19 tests that were sent from all over the country enabling electronic delivery of these.
