Responsible for Roccor’s IT architectural planning platform, hardware/software procurement, identifying and managing an IT helpdesk service provider, developed an employee user policy handbook, and implemented a dozen staff trainings. Led the effort to transition company to be NIST-800-171 cybersecurity compliant by 2019 and worked with the Redwire IT group to handover responsibilities at the enterprise level.

Served as lead engineer and program manager of three unique spaceflight products and responsible for the development cycle from concept through on-orbit flight successes (nine flight articles successfully implemented), resulting in ~$6m of revenue. Championed high strain composites innovation and advanced this market-entering technology within the defense, civil and commercial industries. Served as lead engineer for the first flight product delivery at Roccor, along with developing new business practices and foundation that would eventually lead to establishing the quality, procurement and material handling departments and set a path towards AS9100 certification. Held key roles in proposal writing, marketing and conference exposure strategy, staff development and recruited five members to the Roccor team. Managed and mentored several direct reports on the engineering team.

Led a small and dynamic team working to define Roccor’s business strategy and direction for emerging spaceflight business. Served as lead engineer for Roccor’s proposal development activities and responsible for technical execution, including cognizant engineer on the DARPA Phoenix effort, NASA JPL Starshade and architect for what would eventually become a flight proven CubeSat boom deployer with recurring sales through 2021. Advanced a marketing strategy that included publications, conference travel and website development.

Worked in the field of dynamics and wave propagation of structural/material systems. Focused on a unique class of structures that utilize geometric periodicity to either inhibit or enhance elastic wave propagation.At the macroscale, my work involved testing elastic wave attenuation in composite beams. This was computationally analyzed utilizing finite element methods of both discrete and continuum media. The conclusions were reinforced via experimental methods and validated with standard approaches including equipment such as vibration shakers, force hammers and accelerometers.At the nanoscale, my work focused on elastic wave propagation in discrete (i.e. atomic) systems. These 'phonon' waves have a governing impact on the thermal characteristics of materials and can be manipulated via nano-structuring. This effort required the development of complex formulations to model wave propagation for extremely high 'degree-of-freedom' systems. It was found that incorporating periodicity in nanoscale devices, specifically voids to bulk materials or nano-pillars on the surface of membranes, can advantageously modify a material's performance and improve efficiency in devices such as thermoelectrics. This work, which coined the phrase "nanophononic metamaterials" was summarized on the front page website of the American Physical Society in February of 2014 and published in Physical Review Letters, with >100 citations to date. https://physics.aps.org/articles/v7/14. A patent has been successfully granted covering this work.

Member of the Microsystems Technology group at The Sandia National Labs simulating elastic wave propagation in nanophononic metamaterials. Effort focused on implementing lattice dynamics models with the influences surface boundary conditions of manufacturable, thin film silicon membranes. These simulations were integrated into Sandia's High Performance Computational Center, yielding the highest fidelity models of its kind. Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS), secretary of National Executive Board, overseeing 25+ chapters within the United States, competitively elected ’09 and re-elected ’10. Active member of the CU-SEDS chapter involved in organizing lectures, planetarium viewings / stargazing, policy panels, community outreach, Yuri’s night Boulder, student projects and led five out of the first past eight trips outside of the state. Authored chapter’s bylaws and elected president from '07-'08.

Student Volunteer (Jan 2007 - May 2008), Student Faculty (Jun 2008 - Feb 2009).DANDE Student Satellite.-Initially the structural team lead, later became the integration & testing lead / core manager for the project which involved more than sixty undergraduate and graduate students. Satellite competitively selected for flight among eleven other entries in the University Nanosat 5 Program. -Designed a kinematic-based satellite separation system that releases a 40kg component on orbit. The design and testing process was vetted by engineers at the Air Force Research Lab and the system is slated for an on-orbit demonstration in the 3rd QTR of 2013.Student Faculty, COSGC-Joined student faculty, facilitated lab's programmatic planning, personnel, state-wide activities, and procurement. In addition, took a role advising cubesat development.
