BPAY is a leading supplier of electronic payment processing services in Australia and is a joint venture between NAB, ANZ, CBA and Westpac. The CFO role was responsible for all Financial matters as well as strategy development in the evolving real-time payments landscape. In addition, I was Chairman of the Project Control Board.

The role provided financial services for the Centralised Support Functions of the Bank: Enterprise Services (IT and Operations), Financial Services, Group Treasury, Risk Management, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, Legal Services, Group Strategy and the Office of the CEO. The support functions included services provided by CBA subsidiaries, Bankwest and ASB in New Zealand

The Wealth Management business unit of the CBA includes Global Asset Management, Fund Platforms and Administration (including First Choice), Distribution (Financial Wisdom) and the Life & General Insurance businesses (CommInsure). At that time publicly available financial statements indicate that total assets of the consolidated Life Insurance holding company were approximately $30bn and total revenue was $6bn for the year ending 30 June, 2007. The last publicly stated appraisal value of this business was approximately $7bn at 30 June, 2005.

Harbour Capital Limited was a publicly listed investment company focussing on Hong Kong and the Greater China region. The company also received nickel royalties from Western Mining Corporation in Australia. Market capitalisation at that time was around $10m.

Tyndall Australia Limited was a publicly listed Financial Services company with a market value of $130m in 1993 to $750m in 1999 with the sale to Royal & Sun Alliance ("RSA"). RSA subsequently became Promina Group Limited then part of Suncorp. Its life insurance business is now known as Asteron. At the time of the merger with Tyndall in 1999 the Financial Services business had a combined revenue in excess of $500m and the total assets of the merged Life Company were more than $2.5bn.
