My name is Sierra, but I've never felt like that name suited me. Sierra means a mountain and while I'm very grounded (I'm a realist), I'm not an imposing, immovable object like a mountain is. I'm more whimsical, varied, and flowing than a mountain is, like the Northern Lights. So I chose a name I prefer, Midnight.I'm a diverse individual who likes to employ logic and creativity to everything. I love learning and am constantly in awe about something in the world, most recently with programming. I work hard at everything I do from in my own home with upkeep and my kids to in the workplace where I ensure everything is done up to a high standard of quality.I'm very good at knowing and being a bit of everything. As I've spent most of my career in caregiving and as an activities professional, you work with a huge variety of people and being able to adapt to each and every one of them, their personalities, and their needs has always been something that comes easily to me. I made the choice to leave geriatric care after many years because unless you want to own or run a facility, there isn't really any up. As an activity director, I was already at the top of that career ladder and there was nowhere up to go to better provide for my family. After a friend made the jump to join devCodeCamp, he convinced me to do the same and I discovered that I love writing code. I'm still in awe over every little thing I do or create. While I use technology and know that people make the things I use, the little things still amaze me and being able to create these little things myself and puzzle things out when they aren't going as planned create the perfect blend of challenge, critical thinking, and creativity for my liking.
