Ambassador

Downtown Hampton Development Partnership

Hampton, Virginia

As the Downtown Hampton Ambassador, I assisted tourists / visitors with navigating Downtown Hampton, reported problems I noticed while on patrol, and relayed the requests of local business owners to the Marina. I developed strong communication skills as a result of my interaction with numerous people. My positive and welcoming attitude was key to successfully interacting with tourists who were unfamiliar with the area. At the same time, I had to take note of and analyze the surrounding area so as to effectively direct tourists. I also had to pay close attention to the details of the local shop owners' requests while evaluating them to determine whether or not they could be realistically completed by the Downtown Hampton Development Partnership. "The Downtown Hampton Development Partnership (DHDP) was established in 1996 to manage the Business Improvement District (BID). The BID encompasses more than 350 businesses and property owners. The DHDP is committed to enhancing the physical beauty, commercial vitality and distinguished character of Downtown Hampton. Through innovative arts initiatives, special events and cooperative marketing programs, the Partnership plays a vital role in the viability of Downtown Hampton.MISSION - The Downtown Hampton Development Partnership (DHDP) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the economic health and quality of life in Downtown Hampton. The Partnership maximizes private, public and educational resources to create the best possible environment to live, work, shop, visit and do business." Administrative Intern

Law Office Of Stephen Grobel

Hampton, Virginia

As an intern with the law office of Mr. Grobel, I wrote and drafted letters to clients, researched legal issues, and briefly managed a position at the front desk. As part of the research portion of my duties I recommended cases that could serve as useful precedents for Mr. Grobel's cases. I also summarized important details of legal documents so as to allow Mr. Grobel to focus on other issues. As I wrote letters to send to clients, I had to pay close attention to the details and objectives of the messages to ensure that both the tone and content of the letters were in line with what Mr. Grobel wanted them to communicate. I also had to prepare documentation and submit it to the District Court and police station. As I monitored the front desk, I oftentimes had to improvise when clients walked in without appointments or called the office phone. My communication skills were key when it came to talking to clients while Mr. Grobel was preparing to help them, and also when I took calls and had to evaluate the validity of some of the potential clients' requests.
