The project had cutting-edge interest matching technology between language partners. And a chat function to learn languages including Chinese and many other languages through learning chats.

We empower Chinese language learners and help them to make the most effective decisions regarding their choice of local language schools, tutors, and exchange partners. We guide our users though the whole learning process from start to finish.This innovative language learning platform is growing rapidly and has won international awards. In 2012, we were accepted into the Cyperport Incubation Program, a Hong Kong government funded incubation program. In 2013, we received a series A Venture Capital funding grant. In my first startup, I was responsible for facilitating language exchange programs between local schools in Zuhai, China and international students coming to China. we developed learning curriculums, held events and assisted the local schools with language learning.

I was a writer for 'Dialogue', the HKU student magazine. I was responsible for producing articles on topics as diverse as 'what to do after graduation', 'student life' and 'changes in the art faculty' to name a few.

This twelve month contract saw me Co-Host of “Angels World”, a weekly childrens TV show in Cantonese, which introduces different cultures, food and cultural habits in an interesting, engaging way.

I worked with the production team to develop, host and present a multilingual and interactive show called “The Energysource" for the German Pavilion. The show was seen by over 20,000 people a day during the six months the show ran for. My host and presenter role required me to represent “German youth” as protagonist “Jens”. In addition, I acted as a multilingual host at the many associated cultural events and presentations. The German pavilion won the prize for 'best in show'.

In this many-faceted work-experience (Prakitkom) role, I represented the Consul General at diplomatic functions. I also contributed articles to its local newspaper, drafted speeches for senior staff and worked closely with our partners regarding organisation of external events. I contributed to the organisational work of the Consulate's chairmanship of the European counties at the World Expo 2010. In this role, my advanced Mandarin language skills and cultural understanding proved extremely helpful on numerous occasions. We worked with other consulates including the Israeli and French and the China government to produce art and cultural related events and corporate functions.

The Internal Training Centre trains Chinese government officials in alll areas of business managment skills including accounting, language, intercultural relations and human resource managment. In this internship role I worked on a project to create an SAT exam centre that would enable local Chinese to sit the SAT without needing to travel to the USA. I worked closely with civil servants and representatives from the Shenzhen Government. The working language for this position was Mandarin Chinese, so I had plenty of opportunity to hone my Chinese language skills in a real-life working environment. In this summer internship position, I prepared meeting materials for the hospital management and played a supporting role in negotiations with the Hospital Authority. I was also responsible for project management of the setting up of a sleep laboratory station in the hospital.
