The Managing Director of Withers Energy Group, LP, based in Cypress, Texas, John Speer has conducted billions of dollars of real estate and financing business in a successful entrepreneurial career spanning more than three and a half decades. Leveraging that extensive experience, Mr. Speer’s talent for design and execution, and his penchant for innovation, he now operates in the oil and gas industry. Prior to his efforts with Withers Energy Group, John Speer served as a home builder and developer, and he maintains a membership in the National Association of Home Builders. His considerable investments include construction, real estate, energy, banking, and ranching.A graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting, John Speer continues to support his alma mater. At Mays Business School on the College Station campus, he served on the Dean’s Development Council, and in 2004, he garnered recognition as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University. Heavily involved with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, Mr. Speer also has served on several bank, charity, and organization boards and supports a number of other charitable organizations in the Houston area.Beneficiaries of his generosity include the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation, the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, and Houston Children’s Charity. Mr. Speer also assists cultural and historical groups such as the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony, and the World War II Military History Museum. When not engaged in professional pursuits or philanthropic efforts, John Speer enjoys outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing.
