Thirdchannel is ‘Smart Retail’. We use a multitude of temporary employees to gather observational data in retail environments around North America. We then merge this observational data with external metrics (e.g. POS/sales data, demographic, weather, etc.) to optimize retail environments and to determine where customers’ marketing budgets should be spent (i.e. *which* stores to pay attention to).As CTO, I am primarily responsible for the architectural vision and technology choices. Responsibilities also include: engineering management, mentorship, trainings/presentations internally, conference speaking, and the programming workload of around 70-80% of our other engineers. I designed and led the implementation of ThirdChannel’s Microservices based platform. Adhering to DDD / CQRS and Reactive principals, it grew from one monolithic Rails application to dozens of small, focused services.Presented internal talks on a variety of subjects relevant to the technical direction of the company, including Microservices, DDD, React, Redux, and RxJava

My most recent projects / work at Cantina have included:-Developing an Event-based SDK for building Android native video apps.-Writing several decently-sized single-page Javascript web applications using relevant JS frameworks (e.g. Backbone + Handlebars) as well as developing the supporting web services.-Presenting and running a workshop on Grails & Javascript at Gr8Conf EU.-Architecting scalable SOA deployments, using message brokers (e.g. RabbitMQ) for node-to-node communications.-Recovering several failed Grails applications and bringing them to a successful state.

While a student, the job was assigned to me to help cover tuition. I was given it because of my background, as opposed to being a T.A. Developed several web-based software applications for the Tufts Community. These included a Flex- based virtual soundboard for use in music courses, and a video annotation application based on the AJAX technique.
