I've formally worked within agriculture since I was twelve when I first worked at a feed mill bagging mineral for inclusion in livestock feed. Later, I worked on a diversified dairy and then at a large cow/calf ranch in Florida. Since moving to the Midwest nearly eleven years ago, I've continued my passion for agriculture through innovative economic research and analysis, first for the Iowa Farm Bureau and for the last seven years running a company started by a close friend and I at the prodding of a third. I love agriculture and all the opportunities it offers for learning, experiencing, and rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest people around.Decision Innovation Solutions (DIS) is an economic research and analysis firm based in Urbandale, Iowa. Our clients in the ag business – States, municipalities, organizations and producers – count on us for the right data, interpreted correctly, to make the best business decisions possible. DIS has also done considerable amounts of work for clients who are not engaged in the agricultural industries.Though much of our data and analysis powers our clients’ decision-making process, many people are familiar with it via the Coalition To Support Iowa’s Farmers #99 Ag Facts Campaign, the AgMRC Renewable Energy and Climate Change Report, or the Nationwide Impact of Animal Agriculture performed for the United Soybean Board.
