In addition to my prior duties as the Senior Research Manager for Decision Innovation Solutions, I am also responsible for the overall operation and success of the business. In my role, my primary focus is: 1) Ensuring client satisfaction with our custom decision-making tools, 2) Developing additional business through current and new relationships, and 3) Fulfillment of new contracts and ongoing client work arrangements. Since I am naturally an intellectually curious person, the diversity of my work is very rewarding, with many opportunities to learn and apply new concepts in the real world.

My position at Decision Innovation Solutions allows me to apply several different specialties that provide sophisticated business decision-making technologies to organizations and businesses that currently do not have these specific expertise or core competencies. Specifically, I provide research in the following areas: 1) Stochastic Modeling/Analysis; 2) Economic Impact/Contribution Analysis; 3) Spatial Analysis; 4) Feasibility Studies; and 5) Optimization.

In this position, I created economic models for simulating the performance of agricultural enterprises under varying financial and policy environments, applied Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) analysis/software to estimate the economic contribution of agriculture to Iowa’s state and county economies, facilitated the reintroduction of county level hog data that had not been collected on an annual basis since 1989, assisted in the development of one of the most comprehensive data warehouses available for agricultural data, conducted and participated in data analyses related to several agriculture subsectors such as livestock, crops, biofuels, and the environment, received firsthand experience working with the United States Department of Agriculture’s surveying and report-generating processes, analyzed the Iowa state budget released each January to identify areas that would threaten or enhance agriculture’s standing in Iowa, gained an understanding of local and state governments by providing in-depth research to aid Farm Bureau’s policy development process, and created and delivered presentations to a variety of groups for education, action, and awareness

In this position, I prepared/updated crop budgets for statewide land valuation (property tax assessment), instructed Quickbooks classes to farmers, and performed several research projects related to agriculture.

At one point or another, performed all responsibilities related to dairy operation. Also planted, irrigated, and harvested several crops including alfalfa, barley, and corn silage.
