About Spencer Como

You don't know what you have until it's gone. On deployment in the Navy away from the mountains ignited a fire for conservation in me. Majoring in Wildlife and Forestry Conservation at Castleton University only stoked the flames. I continued my passion by consistently finding work in conservation, joining nine different conservation organizations to increase my knowledge outside of school. In addition, I continually find ways to improve my peers' knowledge. For example, helping start two conservation clubs, The Wildlife Society and the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, currently ranked number two in the country. I have created multiple opportunities for students to work with wildlife professionals awarded two grants to generate funds for three conservation projects. Upon completing my degree, I will apply for my forestry certification from the Society of American Foresters.Areas of Interest:Increase native plant communities well limiting invasive species, bringing fire back the New England landscape, limiting the impact of outdoor recreation on ecosystems, and improving local wood production.
