I grew up on a small family farm in the mountains of North Carolina where I was instilled with hard work, comradery, perseverance and dedication. I have carried these core values with me throughout my time at North Carolina State University where I achieved degrees in both Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The most important thing I learned in school and work is that healthy connections and communication with my peers is a key part in being successful in a professional setting. I am an effective communicator and work very well with others. My technical skills include AutoCAD design, Revit Design, C programming, embedded systems, circuit analysis and electrical system design. I have learned many other skill sets through my work experiences. Mountain Heritage Systems and Technologies taught me the hands on installation and servicing of home Audio/Video, security and fire alarm systems. My time at ClassTech taught me the importance of routine system inspections to prevent malfunctions during use and in the case of a system breakdown I learned to think under the pressure of an entire university class being put on hold until I was able to resolve any issue. I am currently working full-time at Optima Engineering consulting and design firm. Here I work as an electrical design consultant under the guidance of superb senior engineers. I handle my own projects including schools, offices, apartments and more. More importantly, I have learned to efficiently communicate in the workplace to my superiors, fellow designers and clients. My professional interests include electrical systems design, clean energy practices, embedded systems design and signal processing in the music industry. My hope is to be able to combine the skill sets that I have developed along with teamwork and communication skills to help build a better future through technological advancement.
