I study electrolyte design to enhance electro-organic synthesis reaction pathways. My research emphasizes green chemistry principles while trying to find active, water-based solutions for non-polar substrates.

I simulated lithium ion battery cathode materials using Multiphase Porous Electrode Theory (MPET)software, based in Python. I modeled autocatalysis induced particle heterogeneity in NMC materials to explore the dependence of the extent of heterogeneity on initial lithium concentration, random noise, and cell geometry.

I categorized a practical list of 50 common solvents for organic synthesis based on their greenness through studying EHS data from literature. Implemented features to provide information on the greenness of solvents in the API and UI of ASKCOS, a computational organic synthesis tool, using Python, HTML, and JavaScript. I explored methods to calculate Process Mass Intensity for use in planning efficient reaction pathways.

I managed the grading and supplemental teaching of approximately 27 students in Physics I, a classical mechanics physics class at MIT in the fall of 2019. In the spring of 2020, I did the same thing for Physics II, an introductory electricity and magnetism course.

I developed a video analysis protocol to pair with a compression machine to collect force and percent deformation data. Using this compression test and video analysis technique, I characterized the viscoelasticity of bacteria granules collected from both standard and experimental water treatment systems, to help understand the stress they can sustain in a treatment system while still remaining effective. I also created computer model of a granule to demonstrate the viscoelastic property of the granules in contrast to an elastic property via COMSOL Multiphysics.

Layer-by-layer films are made of alternating layers of positively and negatively charged particles, allowing for a more controlled drug delivery than other methods. I both made layer-by-layer films for study and modeled the release kinetics of these films. I also trained to work in a sterile laboratory environment for the purpose of assisting in cultivating human bone cells for study within the lab.
