Covid has brought about a very difficult situation as far as staffing goes in many service industries, even more so in the highly inflated mountain towns. This has made my role a lot more fluid than originally planned. Having originally planned being a supervisor with Burton, I have had to adjust to many different roles in many different stores. I have worked in 5 different retail locations around Northstar Resort. This situation requires me to be very flexible and able to change pace quickly. I must learn inventory rapidly and be able to assist customers with purchases that mean a great deal to them. While working as a full-time sales intern I learned a lot about how to work with customers. Some days I would spend 8 hours cold calling which taught me to be persistent and not get frustrated when you hit cold streaks. Other days (in the weeks leading up to 4th of July) I would be taking inbound calls from customers whose livelihood depended on me being able to do my job. This is an experience I will always cherish and one that did a lot to help me grow as an individual.I was invited back for the Summer of 2020 to be the Lead Intern in the Sales Department.
