Excellent FPGA and RTL engineer with 7+ years of experience in the telecom industry with broad interests across many disciplines of electrical and computer engineering. I help to make the internet faster by designing, implementing, and maintaining FPGA-based network processors. Some examples include:- I inherited the FPGA design for and co-ownership of a 100G Ethernet traffic generator/analyzer. I refactored the design in order to close timing then added relevant features to take the product from an MVP to fully operational. For this project, along with the FPGA development using Xilinx Vivado and VHDL, I used JavaScript, Python, and C to add features to the CLI, Web GUI, application code, and device drivers.- I recognized that there would likely be a way to implement a more resource efficient register access controller using Xilinx PCIe endpoint IP. I took initiative, to developed a wrapper for that IP which allowed it to be used both for register access and for packet streaming between the host CPU and FPGA. My design did not get approval to be used for about a year, but when a need arose to reduce resource utilization in some of our FPGAs, I was was able to offer my design as a solution. My design was then given a green light and I collaborated with the other FPGA engineers at the company to integrate my design into all active FPGA projects. - I inherited the dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) engine for our GPON, XGSPON products from a principal engineer who left the company. Within two weeks of the inheritance a critical issue involving DBA was found in a customer network. I was able to determine hypotheses for root cause within a few hours, have a workaround for the customer in a couple days, and released a tested fix withing a few weeks.
