I'm building new ventures in gigaton-scale abiotic carbon capture, encompassing carbon mineralization using mafic and ultramafic rocks; storage as dissolved carbonates; and integration with cleanup of abandoned minelands.

Assessing risks to grounwater resource by conducting variably saturated contaminant tranport column experiments with low pH sulfide tailings leachate and native sediments. Unsaturated hydrologic numerical modeling will extend laboratory results to predictions of risk to groundwater resources.

Conducted a model comparison study between several numerical codes that simulate fluid movement in variably saturated porous media. -Conducted groundwater, surface water, geological, and geochemical studies in support of water resources management and environmental permitting and restoration projects. -Measured volumetric flow and collected samples for laboratory analysis in springs, streams, production, and irrigation wells, and characterized the water quality and sediment geochemistry of lakes. -Implemented studies with a variety of field equipment including v-notch weirs, stream-flow meters, multi-parameter water quality sondes, submersible pumps, auto samplers, as well as custom designed equipment to sample large volumes of sediment from lake bottoms. -Constructed conceptual and numerical geologic and geochemical models, and is skilled with geospatial and geochemical modeling software, including ArcGIS, Leapfrog-Hydro, and PHREEQC. -Managed sampling and analysis programs to evaluate the environmental impacts at abandoned mine sites and to assess mineral resource potential to support management planning.

-Interpreted geophysical logging data, consisting of gamma radiation, bore diameter, density, and resistivity from drilled sites in prospective areas of extraction. Data were used to construct digital models of lignite in SurvCadd. Models consisted of geo-referenced geological data, as well as lignite quality data (e.g., sulfur and mercury content). -Managed a database of lignite quality data, which were delivered bi-weekly by a contracted laboratory. Assisted in the installation of several de-watering wells in areas that were to be mined in the future. -Directed drilling operations and managed contracted drilling crews, including the selection of drilling sites based on lignite thicknesses at previously drilled sites, topography, vegetation, and safety considerations. -Provided the drilling crews with a coring interval, which was based on surface elevation and depths to lignite at previous holes. -Logged cuttings throughout the drilling process. Upon successful retrieval of lignite cores, pertinent intervals were logged as well. -Prepared lignite, underburden, and overburden samples to a laboratory for analysis. -Ensured safety at all times in a potentially dangerous operation.

Worked as part of a team of part-time, college student, manual laborers to safely overhaul an off-shore drilling rig.
