Gis Student Assistant
Sacramento, California, United States
I spent a year working for California's Department of Transportation, as a GIS student assistant, creating maps and updating GIS data for the Division of Aeronautics. I updated their aviation data, including California's airports, hospital heliports, and automated weatherobservation systems (AWOS). I create high-quality reference maps for the Office of Airports and Planning for the division in a quick turnaround and a high-stress environment. I demonstrated effective communication skills to communicate complex GIS and research data issues to mycoworkers, who were unfamiliar with the subject. I worked on multiple GIS projects simultaneously for Caltrans both independently and cooperatively with others and was able to meet each project's deadline. I possess good analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills, allowing me to find solutions to GIS problems. My GIS skills and knowledge allowed me to answer any GIS questions the division hasbrought to my desk. I became the GIS expert for the division and worked with each office within the division, using my analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills, I created different aviation maps and answered different GIS questions. I have years of experience using ArcMap, ArcGISPro, ArcGIS Online, and other ESRI GIS platforms to create physical maps, web maps, and web applications.
