Mosaicked and composited images that overlapped with field collected tree data, calculated vegetation indices, texture metrics, and clustered pixel values to create objects that were then classified using Random Forest. The results generated could help with identifying available shade habitat for reintroduced Scimitar Horned Oryx and Addax across the reserve. -
Automated Wildlife Survey Project InternSmithsonian'S National Zoo And Conservation Biology Institute Jun 2022 - Oct 2022Identified large African mammals in the Masai Mara Reserve from aerial imagery using the Annotation Interface for Data-driven Ecology (AIDE). Training data will be used to teach the AI to be able to differentiate and identify between different species. Once enough training data has been completed, the AI will be used to survey the number of livestock across the reserve.
