I continued with the research that began at the UCLA White Mountain Research Center in Dr. Dahlhoff's laboratory at Santa Clara University through analyzing the genomics of the beetles.

I assisted Santa Clara University professor Dr. Elizabeth Dahlhoff with conducting research on the Sierra Willow Leaf Beetle, in which I measured metabolic rates, running speeds, and daily behavior checks. I also attended to beetles through larval, egg, and adult life phases.

I helped with writing grants for various organizations whose goals are aligned with CNGF’s mission of promoting regenerative organic agriculture in urban areas and protecting native plant biodiversity in California, and I also assisted with science advisory by contacting scientists who specialize in studying microbiomes and how to maintain strong microbiomes in native gardens, and helped to compile a list of these scientists for their input on CNGF’s mission and practices. I also made educational videos for young kids and families about California native plants and animals, such as how to plant and grow tall snap peas and how to make a salad using ingredients grown in your own garden. These videos were posted to the ELSEE (Environmental Laboratory for Sustainability and Ecological Education) youtube channel as part of an effort by CNGF to educate young kids and families about CNGF's mission remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I performed routine lab preparation functions for the chemistry labs, such as collecting chemicals from storage, preparing solutions, preparing and labeling reagents and setting out apparatus for use by students in the teaching labs.

I worked in Environmental Health & Safety and Operations and helped create an employee handbook from scratch. I also scanned lab notebooks for scientists to a central database and planned a tour at the facility for student interns from other companies. I participated in a poster gallery walk at the end of internship and presented my internship experience to people at the event.
