Project manager by TNO, in the Traffic and Transport unit. Responsible for project management of various transport innovation projects, including evaluation of Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) applications, and the implementation of city-scale urban planning decision support software applications. Of note, I was responsible for a number of projects that adapted vehicle-level simulation and modelling of electric buses to concession-level and public transport authority level decision-support systems. For those projects, in addition to project management, I was the lead on scheduling (including processing public and proprietary timetabling data), public transport operational modelling, and the link between vehicle and network-level considerations.

Until September 2016, I was employed by the Australian Army as a project manager, where I was required to work in a project management team to deliver construction projects both in Australia and overseas.I have taken long-service leave from the Army from January 2016, and have transferred to the Standby Reserve with effect September 2016.

In this role I have been responsible for procurement and project management activities for a number of infrastructure projects for the Department of Defence, ranging in value from $5 million to $800 million.

In this role I was essentially the HR manager for a construction and project management unit of approximately 40 personnel, and was also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit, including all non-project finances. I also provided project management assistance where required.

Dili, Timor Leste

I deployed as the Force Engineer in charge of the environmental remediation and transfer of three Australian bases in Dili, Timor Leste. In this role, I was required to liaise with Australia-based environmental staff and contractors, and with senior ministers within the Timor Leste Government.

Townsville, Australia

In this position I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a Squadron of Sappers, including tradesmen, plant operators and emergency responders, including organising all elements of their training exercises in conjunction with their troop commanders. Additionally, I was responsible for the project management of Exercise PUK PUK 2012, a construction exercise held in conjunction with the PNG Defence Force in Port Moresby. I was responsible for the scoping, planning, delivery, finances and closure of this exercise, which included a 2 month delivery phase involving over 100 tradesmen.

Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan

In this position I deployed to Afghanistan as the Troop Commander to 30 Sappers, who were employed as IED searchers, operating out of a number of isolated patrol bases. Additionally, I was required to interact with the local population on a daily basis in order to identify possible basic construction projects that could be constructed in conjunction with local community leaders.

Brisbane, Australia

In this position I was in command of a troop of between 25 and 40 soldiers. Amongst the tasks I oversaw included:- The construction of a patrol base at the Wide Bay Training Area, North of Brisbane, suitable for training exercises for up to 100 people prior to deploying to Afghanistan- A number of field exercises, centered on expedient bridge construction rated up to 60 tonnes, minor construction tasks and combat engineering tasks- Preparation of my troop to deploy to Afghanistan as combat engineer searchers.
