Consulted four companies with teams comprised of my finance MBA counterparts and undergraduate finance team member1. Developed analytic framework to optimize Best Buy big box store square footage, both for product square footage allocation within the store and the retail footprint as a whole in the U.S. This project ultimately supported the actual closure of 50 stores in 20122. Assessed potential financial impacts of supplier disruptions for Dell using Monte Carlo statistical modeling, providing a framework for identifying exposure to risk and offering industry best practices for mitigating the risk3. Consulted with a medical device startup comprised of scientists from the University. Provided valuation options and suggestions for obtaining financing and developing a go-to-market strategy for the device (FDA approval, product development, test markets, etc.)4. Partnered with credit union research firm Filene to develop a standardized method for estimating the cost of capital for a credit union. Points of view in the industry vary widely, with some credit unions assuming a cost of capital of zero, with others using market-based approaches.
