About Spencer Nielsen

Growing up, I was told over and over, “you become like the people you spend time with.” So here's a little about me, the people/organizations I have spent my time with, and the value I hope to bring to the world:I got into sales in 2011 (after college) because of the relationships you get to build with different people. I love how it brings together folks from various backgrounds and success often stems from your ability to build trust with others. Having spent time living in many places, I’ve always enjoyed getting to know new people and forging strong connections. I grew up mostly in Southern CA but also lived in: Mexico City for middle school, North Carolina for College, and San Francisco for the first 10 years of my career. I'm now back home in Southern CA and focused on creating a wonderful life for my family. The first stop of my career was at CEB, where I got a "mini MBA" in the Challenger Sales methodology. Reflecting back, my 1st job out of college could not have been better! I learned so much about selling, and built confidence in my ability to teach something new to senior executives. The next stop was at Linkedin, where most importantly, I met my wife! Besides falling in love... I helped grow revenue for our Sales Navigator department. This was a dream job because I got to combine my experience in a Sales Methodology (Challenger) with a tool (Sales Navigator) to help elevate the Sales profession and enable customers drive more revenue.After ~8 years at LinkedIn, I joined Airtable, where I learned a lot about low-code software and project management solutions. If you haven't tried Airtable, I highly recommend it for both personal and professional life! Now I am at Incredible Health, which is like a Match.com for nurses and hospitals to address the severe nursing shortage in the U.S. We help hospitals hire tenured, permanent nurses in 20 days or less (compared to the nationwide average of 95 days). Outside of work, you'll find me with my wife, dog, and newborn daughter enjoying our first year as a family together. Diaper changes keep us on our toes… but when we can make it out of the house, we love beach days, Home Depot garden centers, and exploring local food spots with outdoor patios.     In this role, I sold the Challenger Sales methodology (and other related research/advisory services) to senior-most Sales and Marketing executives at leading Fortune 500 companies. CEB had just launched the Challenger Sale book and workshops, and I was fortunate to get trained in Challenger from the people who wrote the book! I helped lead the charge in selling this methodology to our Fortune 500 prospects, and had to demonstrate that (while a young seller myself) I had value to offer to veteran sales leaders at the top of their functions. This was a dream role for an aspiring seller fresh out of college. I effectively got a mini Sales MBA and became an expert in the Challenger methodology as well as pitching/cold-calling senior executives. This training and experience has continued to serve me throughout my career as an Enterprise Seller.
