As an R&D/Process Development Engineer, I have experience in Class II medical device new product development, new product introduction, and process development. I collaborated with fellow engineers throughout the project lifecycle, conducting thorough assessments and ensuring safety through rigorous verification and validation processes, which resulted in the successful development of a class II medical device along with a new CER process line. In my process development role with the Epix Universal Clip Applier, I oversaw the manufacturing of plastic and metal components, including stamping, lathes, CNCs, wire forming, wire electrical discharge machining, spring forming, laser welders, and injection molding. I performed process qualifications, phase reviews, redlines, and DOEs, while developing calibrated fixturing and redesigning pneumatic press assemblies. Additionally, I designed a fixture to test component laser weld shearing force, field-related forces, and fatigue. I also reviewed team fixturing, device assemblies, and drawings for medical devices such as the Kii Access System, Kii Dissecting Balloon, Alexis Protectors and Systems, Epix Suction-Irrigation System, and Epix Universal Clip Applier.

During my time at Inari Medical, I had the privilege of collaborating with a passionate and driven team of engineers. This invaluable opportunity allowed me to tackle complex challenges, enhance my design skills, and gain comprehensive knowledge of the new product development process. Among my responsibilities, I focused on developing a recipe for producing an in-house thrombus with ductile to brittle properties. I also efficiently designed and manufactured fixtures and molds to evaluate the thrombus characteristics using both ASTM standard and custom test methods, focusing on compression and tensile testing. Additionally, I devised a specialized fixture that maintained the axial alignment of various catheter devices when subjected to Blockwise radial compression equipment, closely replicating real-world deployment conditions. Throughout the experience, our engineering team communicated with doctors during porcine animal labs to gather essential feedback, ensuring the creation of a class II medical device that is safe and user-friendly. Along with this feedback, the team conducted thorough phase and design reviews while effectively minimizing potential hazards by rigorously verifying and validating the product.
