Product Development• Contribute to development of orthopedic implant and instrument products or systems across the full range of orthopedic sectors including hip/knee, spinal, trauma, sports medicine, extremities, cranial and dental.• Design instruments for variety of surgical approaches, including minimally invasive, endoscopic, robotic and navigated technologies.• Worked on contract-basis with full-spectrum of customer types • Generate and articulate innovative concepts in… Show more Product Development• Contribute to development of orthopedic implant and instrument products or systems across the full range of orthopedic sectors including hip/knee, spinal, trauma, sports medicine, extremities, cranial and dental.• Design instruments for variety of surgical approaches, including minimally invasive, endoscopic, robotic and navigated technologies.• Worked on contract-basis with full-spectrum of customer types • Generate and articulate innovative concepts in response to customer or patient needs.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, evaluate and select promising concepts for development of new products and technologies. • Utilize 3D printing, rapid manufacturing/prototyping, and benchtop testing to evaluate feasibility of promising concepts and achieve design stability.• Perform mechanical, tolerance, finite element, statistical and other analyses to predict mechanical performance of new products.• Prepare project plans, design input/output matrices, test reports, technical memos, and other documents for 510(k)s, Technical Files, and Design History Files.Project Management• Lead teams of two to three people through multi-phase projects.• Balance competing requirements of lead time, budget and project scope for multiple, concurrent projects• Work with customers and end-users/surgeons to evaluate products in simulated-use and cadaver lab experiences.Technical• Proficiently utilize SolidWorks and ProEngineer/Creo CAD software for both model and drawing creation.• Use SolidWorks Simulation Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to identify design flaws and optimize mechanical strength and performance.• Perform Design for Manufacture for mill, lathe, wire EDM, Swiss machine, CNC grinding and special processes • Frequently collaborate with on-site prototype shop as well as off-site production facilities.• Contribute to continuous improvement of ISO 13485 and FDA CFR Part 820-compliant quality system.
