About Spencer Williams
Spencer is a musical theatre educator, choral director, composer and playwright. He co-wrote For Tonight, a new original trilingual musical, that had it's West End debut at the Adelphi Theatre on September 5th, 2023 as a one-night concert. It has also been seen at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Goodspeed Musicals, Isle of Man’s Gaiety Theatre, Michigan State University, the cell with New York Theatre Barn, Queensbury Theatre in Houston, TX, and with workshops at The Union Theatre in London, and the London Welsh Centre. The UK concept album of For Tonight has reached over 100k streams and is out on all digital platforms. In educational theatre, he has produced the high school premiere of two Duncan Sheik musicals: Whisper House (Kyle Jarrow) and Alice by Heart (Steven Sater, Jessie Nelson); An Evening With Stuart Brayson (with music from From Here to Eternity), The Stories of Tonight and has directed/musically directed/produced over 40 musicals and musical revues. Favorites include: Les Miserables, Chicago, Frozen and The Wedding Singer.Spencer has conducted choirs at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican; Paris, France; Cadogan Hall in London, England; Canterbury Cathedral; California’s Disneyland; and at Carmel Mission. Upcoming Tour: The Children of Eden (David Geffen Hall, New York City - Feb 2024). He also worked at San Jose Stage Company as resident Musical Director and Education Director for six years, where he also founded the Bay Area High School Top Honor Awards.Spencer has performed internationally at WORLD EXPO in Tokyo, Japan, CHILDREN’S FOLKLORE FESTIVAL in Matha, France, on national television on THE GONG SHOW, and been featured on TLC’S TRADING SPACES. Boston University: Master’s of Music Education. Member of: Dramatist Guild, ASCAP, NAMT, Mercury Musicals Development (MMD) and Musical Theatre Network (MTN).

CurrentWEST END DEBUT: ADELPHI THEATRE (SEPT. 2023) When their parents both die of a mysterious illness that swept through their small Welsh village, surviving children Thomas, Haydon, and Nettie are forced to fend for themselves in a community that has largely shunned them. Thomas has taken control of the household, Nettie is coming into her own (and out of her shell) as a member of the community by selling her clothing she makes and Haydon wishes for something larger than this small town. Inspired by the gypsies who once shared their home, Haydon heads off to Liverpool, guitar in hand, to find what the world has to offer. There he meets Mirela, a beautiful young Romani woman who speaks to his wandering soul. However, when word comes that Haydon that his sister is deathly ill, he is forced to choose between the family and life he left behind, or the freedom and love he has found.

Director of Arts at Fessenden School -- oversee and direct 14 members of the Arts Department that includes General Music, Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Woodworking, Photography, Video Production, World Percussion and Visual Arts. Taught grades 4-9 choir, general music, ukulele, and musical theatre. Directed 3 productions including: Elf, Wonka, and When I Grow Up. Overhauled all department curriculum to include appropriate grade-level scaffolding in Music (Choir, Band & Orchestra), Theatre, and Visual Arts. Designed and help organize the building of a 12 million new Performing Arts Center.

He directed/produced over 20 musicals and/or musical revues during his tenure.His choirs have performed in St. Peter's at the Vatican, St. Popolo's Square in Rome, at the Frascati Choral Festival, Paris, France, Cadogan Hall in London, Westminster Abbey in Westminster, England, Avery Fisher Hall in New York City and multiple times in Disneyland and California Adventure. Spencer organizes all US and international tours for students. He's a very passionate educator that focuses on creating opportunities for his students to work with professional musicians and theatre artists. Past artists have included: Dave Malloy (composer of "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812"), David Poe (Whisper House and singer/songwriter), Jacob ben Widmar (The Book of Mormon ), Emily Bergl (Desperate Housewives ), David Yost (Mighty Morphin Power Ranger ), Brad Ellis (musical director of GLEE ), Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Stuart Brayson (From Here to Eternity). He raised over $50,000 for the Performing Arts Scholarship fund.

This award program worked with 15-20 private/public high schools in the Bay Area. It was also connected with the "National High School Musical Theatre Awards" and sent two students to New York City to participate in that program.
