I currently work as a Field Technician on the helpdesk at Trident Technical College. Over the past four years, I have been working and pursuing an A.S. in Computer Programming from Trident and as I near graduation, look forward to seeking work in the field of software development. I've had the privilege of utilizing many of the skills taught in my classes while working at the helpdesk, and I'm excited to learn more and move forward in my career!My background is in health sciences and music; I originally began attending TTC in 2014, taking college courses as a dual-credit student with a focus on biochemistry and medicine. I transferred to the College of Charleston in 2016, majoring in both Biochemistry and Music (Jazz Performance). During my time at CofC, I fell ill with a latent genetic disease and had to undergo multiple surgeries and procedures, even as my classes pressed on. In 2018, I was accepted into and began MUSC's Accelerated BSN program but unfortunately had to leave at the end of my first semester to focus on my health. I did obtain my CNA certification in 2019, but ultimately chose not to return to the field of nursing.At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, after years of recovery, I made the decision to return to school and switched my path to computer science. I've been very happy with my decision to change paths, as I find software development/engineering an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding field of study. Working and taking classes has been a challenge - at times, I've had to put work or school aside to focus on the other - but I couldn't be more excited and proud to be graduating this month and beginning the next chapter of my life and career!
