I am an accomplished leader in pre-clinical drug discovery with extensive experience in establishing and growing scientific teams, laboratories, and innovative projects in both academic and commercial settings. My career is marked by a series of strategic leadership roles that have driven significant scientific and business growth.Beginning my drug discovery journey at the University of Dundee, I played a pivotal role in setting up and establishing the Drug Discovery Unit. This experience laid the foundation for my expertise in building and managing high-performing scientific teams and laboratories from the ground up.Following this, I became the Head of Biology at the European Screening Centre as part of the European Lead Factory project. Here, I was again tasked with setting up labs and establishing teams, leading a small group of scientists in a ground-breaking multi-partner, multi-national public-private initiative aimed at accelerating drug discovery across Europe. The success in this venture led to the transition of my team into the biosciences department at BioAscent Drug Discovery Ltd., where I continue to drive growth and innovation.At BioAscent, I have overseen the establishment of the department with rapid growth from zero clients or revenue to becoming a major contributor to company revenue and profitability. Over the past five years, we've achieved a remarkable 54% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in integrated drug discovery services, solidifying our position in a highly competitive market. As a senior leader, I am deeply involved in shaping our scientific and business strategies, ensuring that BioAscent remains at the cutting edge of the CRO industry.During the Covid-19 emergency, I was drafted as the operational lead to set up the Lighthouse Lab at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, a critical initiative completed in just a matter of weeks. Working alongside the University of Glasgow, the NHS, private companies such as Deloitte, and the Army, I led the establishment of a fully operational lab that played a critical role in the UK’s pandemic response.My expertise spans change management, people management, and team development.
